![]() ![]() ![]() I would highly suggest to find an original copy of this book if you are interested in it and do not purchase this 2013 reissue. I'm not sure this was the intent, but this is how it reads. In the 2013 reissue, it tells them to be something they are not, to try to fit in. In the original version, it encourages kids to be unique and individual. Cosgrove wrote the books after searching for an easy to read book with a message to read to his then three-year-old daughter. The books are short stories with colorful illustrations that have a moral perspective. Perhaps the most disappointing thing of all was that the moral at the end of this particular book was changed. The books were written by Stephen Cosgrove and illustrated by Robin James. The images look like they were scanned with a cheap scanner, there are numerous typos and spelling errors (which unfortunately also plague the original versions) including the misspelling of "Flutterby" on the first page, and the choice of font and layout in the new versions make me think someone without any graphic design training designed the books. I was so completely disappointed in the quality of the reissue that I returned it. I was planning to buy a used copy for my best friend for her baby shower but then saw that they had reissued select titles so I opted for a new copy. When I saw they were reissuing them, I was beyond excited. I loved the Serendipity books as a kid and still have my old copies of them. ![]()
